No. 34 Test Cap for Hyundai Kia EV Low Conductivity
• M32 × 2.0 reverse threaded
• Suitable for Hyundai and Kia Low-Conductivity Coolant (LCC) / “blue” coolant loop for cooling high voltage battery pack
Did you know that Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV has two cooling systems?
The standard cooling system, which uses pink coolant, is a regular coolant for cooling components like the electric motor(s), inverter(s), cabin heating/cooling, etc.
And there's another cooling system called Low-Conductivity Coolant (LCC) / “blue” coolant loop. This is a special coolant used for the high voltage battery pack. It has low electrical conductivity, which is safer in case of leaks or faults, to reduce risk of electrical shorting.
This LCC cooling system that uses blue coolant can also be found on Hyundai Kona electric and Kia Niro, and the cap on the expansion tank is very special. It is reverse threaded, which means you need to turn counter clockwise to fasten the cap, and clockwise for unfastening.
Currently, Cosda Manufacturing Company is the sole manufacturer produces a test adapter for this LCC cooling system, and you may use this adapter combining with other tools provided by Cosda for testing leaks or using vacuum to refill the new coolant.
