If your car has a hard start in the beginning but then runs fine afterwards, your car probably has a loss in the fuel pressure. In the case when we are losing pressure, it could be resulted from faulty injectors, pressure regulator, or check valves located at the fuel pump. If your car doesn't create any pressure value after hooking up the test gauge, there might be problems in the electrical system, fuel pump, or fuel filter. But no matter what causes the loss of pressure, it is important to check the fuel injection pressure with a gauge first. Having this Cosda's fuel pressure injection gauge test tool will help you diagnose the fuel injection pressure as easy as possible because all the fittings and adapters provided in this kit will help you connect to the fuel system easily.
First of all, you want to locate where you want to do the tests. The most common test point is the Shrader valve but sometimes on some cars there is no Shrader valve, it will be necessary to disconnect the fuel line from the engine, and use the 3-way adapter or other fittings provided in this test kit to connect to the gauge. But always check and refer to the automotive manufacturer's service manual for the correct procedure for your car. When you are disconnect the Shradrer valve cap or the fuel line, always make sure that you have a shop towel wrapped around the disconnection point in case some fuel escaped because the gasoline fuel can created fire just with a small spark.
Next to the Shrader valve connector or adapter is connected on the fuel system, connect to the gauge provided. The gauge has a large visible area so it is very easy to read. In addition, there is a vacuum pad on the back of the pad. It is very helpful when you are working alone, and you will have to go into the driver's seat to start the engine. The gauge can be vacuum stuck on the windshield and you can read the gauge directly from your seat. There is also a hook provided so the gauge can be hooked under the hood for easy reading.
Simply follow the service manual's procedure for learning what different pressure value mean. Meanwhile, you might want to check other components on the car, such as battery voltage, fuse and relay, fuel pump and filter by priming the system and using a rubber pump. The process may sound difficult but as long as you follow the step on the service manual, you will be able to locate where the problem is from.
