"What's special about this tool?" asked by Johan, an experienced mechanic and now a purchasing manager from a renowned tool brand in Remscheid, Germany after receiving a sample of this brake file, and turning this tool around to check if there's anything new at the same time. Before the Cosda sales rep was about to answer the question, Johan interrupted "Oh this tool has teeth on 4 sides. Very clever!" Just with a small pause, he continued "Wait, and they have 2 different teeth types. These two sides are larger, and these two sides are finer. OK, send me the price. I think we can include this product in the next flyer." The product speaks for itself. Cosda sales rep only said "Yes, right, ok" and the product is introduced into the customer's product line. Right before the zoom meeting was going to an end, Johan commented on this tool again while holding the handle "Nice grip. It feels good".
This tool was developed when a mechanic complained to Cosda's R&D team that he needs to use two different brake files when removing the rusts and debris on the brake caliper housing. "But why two different tools?" Cosda asked. "It's because some debris are chunky and stubborn, and the fine teeth brake file can't do the job. The other way around, some areas has very fine rusts, but the big teeth brake file don't fit into that scenario." Cosda's product designer started to draw the picture in his brain. "What if we combine both?" "Oh yeah, that would be awesome." Two weeks later, Cosda's product designer brought a prototype for this mechanic to test it out. Feedback is positive, metal is not soft, diameter is good, but there's something missing. Product designer was perplexed but has no idea how to proceed either. The mechanic explained after taking off the brake pads from the brake caliper housing "Look, on the corners here, this is where this brake file can't reach to" and pointed the perpendicular corners while explaining. "Gotcha", the light bulb on the product manger's head lit up again, "I'm gonna put the same teeth on the two adjacent sides". "I like that idea" The mechanic said with approval.
Frequently asked questions:
1. What's the diameter of the brake file?
The diameter is 9mm which is suitable for European, Japanese, and Korean cars. 9mm might be slightly smaller for American cars but still works. For GM, Chrysler, and Chevrolet, using a 10mm brake file is more suitable, but 9mm can still do the job.
2. Why is the surface black? The brake file and wood files I saw on the market are usually metallic color.
The file material is chrome vanadium CR-V and has been surface treated with phosphate manganese for anti rust and hardness enhancement purposes. The red iron oxide color on the brake caliper can create a good contrast against the black color of the brake file.
3. How is the brake file packed? Does it have a secure packaging?
This tool is packed in a blister case with a slide back card. The tip of the brake file can be sharp and damage the blister case, so Cosda puts a nylon rubber cover on the file tip as an extra protection.
4. How can I buy this tool from Cosda?
